What is it for?
As the wind strikes buildings and trees, areas of air pressure and suction are set up. The pressure may be greater than the upward pressure of the smoke rising up the flue. This pressure variation can create downdraught leading to smoke and fumes being blown back down the chimney and inside the room. The Aspirotor is ideal for solving issues with downdraught, as its design causes it to catch the wind, driving rotation and creating increased suction to allow efficient exhaust of fumes and smoke. It can be used with all types of fuel systems including gas, oil, coal, and wood with a maximum temperature of 250°C and maximum wind speed of 90mph. Requires approximately 4mph winds to start rotation.
What sizes & options are available?
The Aspirotor is available in two sizes. The Model 150 for internal diameters between 115mm to 180mm (4.5” to 7”) & the Model 200 for internal diameters between 180mm to 230mm (7” to 9”). It is suitable for fitting to a round chimney pot. However, special adaptors can be purchased in addition, to suit a variety of applications such as large round, square and even rectangular outlets. An adaptor plate is required for metal or plastic flues and ducts. Brewer also recommends the addition of an adaptor plate for exposed areas with high wind. The Aspirotor turbine head is made from stainless steel coming in either natural (unpainted) or powder coated terracotta, buff or black. The base is made from cast aluminium and comes in the same paint options as the turbine. Any model with an adaptor plate will usually be delivered between 7 to 10 working days. Please note, powder coated models will prevent any reflections caused by the sun.
How do I fit one?
Once up on the roof, the Aspirotor is fitted by attaching the cast aluminium base to the pot using four stainless steel hook bolts. An additional stainless steel strap and leg set can be provided for greater security in particularly exposed locations. When it comes to cleaning, the Aspirotor has a swivel mechanism allowing the turbine and base to be separated that permits easy access to all areas.
